Symmetry

The human eye is naturally inclined to find symmetrical designs appealing. Designing with symmetry in mind adds a sense of balance to your room. A room with symmetry often feels calm and relaxing. A simple rule is to find a center of focal point and  build the design around it. Mirrors

Can´t get enough of using mirrors when decorating a room. This living room was quie small and narrow. The large mirrors opened up the space and made it look more appealing. Large end to end mirrors in a small room creates a depth and space. Instantly doubling the size and at the same time improving the lighting in a room.

Glam & Fab

This client wanted a feminine bedroom with a hint of glam and gold but yet practical and easy to maintain as she intends to rent it out as as a holiday home. We used a neutral colour scheme with dusty pale blues and warm taupe with a hint of shiny gold metals.

The tufted headboard with feminine curvy wings, amazing drop shaped gold pendants on each side of bed and an amazing eye catching soleil chandelier.
The window was pretty small so we dressed the whole wall with curtains and allowing them to go from side to side to make the window appear bigger and this also make the room look wider.
A big soft rug ties everything together.

Five good reasons why you should hire us.
1. You know what you like but don’t know how to put it together.
2. You like so many different styles, it becomes impossible to choose.
3. You don’t have the time to manage a project from start to finish.
4. You need to spend your money wisely.
5. You don’t know the right people to get the work done.

Which interior style are you?

It can certainly be overwhelming, figuring out what you like and what works in home décor. This guide  helping you identify your own home décor style (or the mix of styles that resonates most with you.
Picture
Modern - is a broad design term that typically refers to a home with clean, crisp lines, a simple colour palette and the use of materials that can include metal, glass and steel. Modern design employs a sense of simplicity in every element, including furniture. A word that’s commonly used to describe modern style is sleek, and there is not a lot of clutter or accessories involved with a modern style.

Picture
Industrial - as the name implies, draws inspiration from a warehouse or an urban loft.
There’s a sense of unfinished rawness in many of the elements. Think high ceilings, old timber and dangling metal light fixtures with sparse functional furniture. There may possibly be one or two pieces of abstract art or photography to add a dash of colour to an otherwise neutral colour scheme derived from the primary materials of wood and metals.

Picture
Scandinavian - All-white colour palettes and the incorporation of natural elements like form-pressed wood, bright plastics, and enameled aluminum, steel and wide plank flooring. If there are pops of colour it often comes from the use of art, natural fibre throws or furs, or a single piece of furniture. Spacious, natural lighting, less accessories and functional furniture characterizes Scandinavian designs.

Picture
Coastal - Common features include light, airy colour palettes with cool neutral shades paired with blues and greens. Furnishings are often white or beige. The room can contain elements of wood and accessories are often inspired by the sea.
Blue and white striped patterns for pillows, large windows, white plush sofas, and painted white wood are also common fixtures of the classic Coastal/Hampton style. The intention is to create a relaxed and comfortable environment that is inspired by the beach and ocean.

Picture
Transitional - Combining two opposite styles. It’s sometimes referred to as “an updated take on the classics” because it acts as a middle ground between the best elements of traditional and contemporary looks. transitional style is an elegant and timeless design motif that combines new and old—and masculine with feminine—in a fresh way. On the one hand, you have the warmth, comfort and balance that comes from a traditional aesthetic. Transitional style feels timeless with a modern twist.
Picture
Traditional - Upholstered furniture in a traditional room, classic lines and understated details. It is functional, unfussy, and restful looking. Edges are soft, smooth, and blend into the whole. Accessories include pairs of lamps, urns, plants, mirrors, framed prints, china, vases, and collections of books. Pairs of objects are usually arranged in balanced symmetry.
Picture
Ethnic chic - This aesthetic is relatively new. This look combines traditional style and modern functionality. Furniture pieces made of natural materials with earthy, natural colours. Rustic, matte and earthy feel by incorporating wood, stone and bamboo, and finally makes the space seem open and airy.

Style your bedroom as a luxury suite

1/1/2019

My number one tips to make your bedroom look like a luxurious hotel suite;
1. BIG shaggy rug. . I see it virtually every day and it pains me to see the tiny rugs that looks like bathroom rugs . Think of scale - a room look a lot bigger with a big rug! I’m getting back to this topic later :) ...upholstery headboard.
2. A bed d overfilled with beautiful pillows.
but most importantly - don’t forget the yewel of the room - the bedside lamps (!) Lamps should be an attractive addition to your room rather than buying a lamp just based on the light.

Right scale

Same same but different

If there is only one thing that you hire an interior designer for, it is help with proportion and scale.  Some people put too many small things in a room, thereby cluttering the room and not giving the eye a place to land.
While others put too many large, bulky items in one room, making it look stuffed and small. The secret to proper scale is a mixture of different shapes, heights and sizes.

A narrow room?

My next project is to turn a long and narrow living room to look spacious and light. This client has a beautiful garden with a large pool. My plan is placing a huge mirror opposite the big patio slidning doors - this will bring both natural light and bring the beautiful greenary and pool into the living room but also the the mirrors will appear to create more space and reflect a lot of light into the room. The first picture is from my Marbella apartment which is very narrow and long so these huge mirrors didmagic to the room. Can´t wait to share the result with you!

Contrasts and right scale

My number one tips when styling a dining table or coffeee table - The key is using contrasts and the right scale. A naked and chunky wooden dining table matched with a feminine touch such as a large statement flower basket - the combination makes it fell both bold and confident! I f you have a really large dining table it requires really big lighting or big vase.

Styling a coffee table

When I style a coffee table I group things in elements of three and vary the dimensions by mixing horizontal (low objects= and vertical high objects. I rather use large items than many small. My motto is always -"Bigger decor is better and less is visually more".
